Shibari Rope Bondage

« Blog

I have long been interested in the Japanese art of rope bondage, Shibari. I started out by just wanting a versatile way of restricting a sub's movement in more creative ways as part of a larger play session. My first ever tie was a basic chest harness that I learned from watching Youtube videos. From here I grew more interested in what else I could do with rope, so I attended some rope bondage workshops run by some friends locally and then a weekend course at Anatomie Studios in London.

Over the years my skill set has grown, I can use rope for severe and tight restrictive bondage as a rough and fast take-down, as part of a sensual erotic play, or to create beautiful intricate patterns for the fun of it.

I have loved using rope in innovative ways to personalise a play session to a sub's physical requirements and individual fantasies.

I have used a variety of ropes and each have their strengths and weaknesses. When choosing rope you need to take into consideration a number of factors;

  • How strong it needs to be -if you're planning on doing suspensions the rope has to be reliably strong for safety, quality is everything.
  • If you're using it with one partner only or a variety of people; when using it with multiple people you need to think about hygiene and how you're going to clean the rope. Some ropes wash better than others.
  • Whether you want to do pretty intricate ties, quick and fast ties, or tight fitting bondage ties - These factors affect the diameter you will need.

I have been using rope from Esinem for a number of years now. I have linen hemp and black dyed jute. I love the rope, and it's lasted far better than other brands!

If you'd like to purchase some rope or related products from Esinem, please use my referral link, it will cost you nothing but I will get a small referral bonus!
